Field Trips & Banquet
The third day of the conference – Wednesday, 14 October 2026 – will be reserved for field trips and exploration around Hong Kong with fellow attendees. Spots are limited, so only 1 activity can be offered per person. Please register below by 30 September 2026 (or 10 September 2026 for the Mai Po Nature Reserve).
1. Hong Kong’s iconic Mai Po Nature Reserve – bird watching and mangrove exploration
Cost: $915 HKD

Step away from the city’s neon glow and immerse yourself in Hong Kong’s most famous wetland! Mai Po Nature Reserve is a breathtaking sanctuary where lush mangroves, sweeping reedbeds, and tranquil fishponds create a vibrant haven for biodiversity. This exclusive tour, guided by experts from WWF, will fully detail the importance of this area for migratory birds, Hong Kong’s waterways and biodiversity. Perhaps you’ll even see an Asian short-clawed otter! *If you wish to attend this tour, registration must be made before 10 September 2026*
2. Discovering Tai Po – gem of the New Territories! Seafood and lifestyle
Cost: $420 HKD

Discover Tai Po – the heart of the New Territories! Enjoy a rich meal of fresh seafood together at a local restaurant before embarking on an adventure to explore Hong Kong’s primary hub for porcelain production – the only one of its kind! Explore the exhibition and learn about ancient kilns and craft in Hong Kong.
3. Breathtaking views and scenery of a neoptropical island: an easy hike on Lamma Island
Cost: $350 HKD
Capacity: 15 People
Join us for an easy but exciting hike over one of the natural beauties of Hong Kong: Lamma Island! This paved 5 km walk (1.5 hours) stretches from the town of tasty seafood (Sok Kwu Wan) to Yung Shue Wan – the island’s busiest port. On the way check out the stunning views of the island, the historical Tin Hau temple (with a surpise inside) and enjoy a swim and an ice-cream on the beach! The trip finishes with a tasty lunch at Sampan – the best place for dim sum (or ‘yum cha’) in Hong Kong!
4. Bring out the food! Tasting the delights of streetfood in Kowloon
Cost: $715 HKD

Perfect for foodies! Dive into Hong Kong’s rich culture through cuisine: sample the delicacies of local fruits and pastries and sip on century old herbal tea recipes. Lincoln, our local expert, will guide you through one of Hong Kong’s busiest and the most central region of Hong Kong, pointing out local treasures such as the Jade Market and imparting how nature intersects even within this region of the city.
5. The Big Blue – a diving and snorkeling trip around Hong Kong’s Geopark
Cost: $780 HKD
Capacity: 25 People
An underwater trip into Hong Kong’s UNESCO World Heritage site – famous for its incredible rock formations and beautiful remoteness. View the unique scenery on your ride from Sai Kung to Bluff Island – an uninhabited island featuring crystal clear waters and volcanic sea cliffs. Witness the marine life around this area and lunch amongst the waves.

Join us to celebrate the end of the conference! Enjoy a classic Cantonese style dinner surrounded by friends, both old and new, as we wrap up a spectacular week of science and collaboration. We will raise our glasses one last time as we bid goodbye to ISOECOL 2026 – and welcome in ISOECOL 2028.
